El Hotelito Desconocido

Along Mexico's Pacific coast, nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Madre Mountains, an enchanted paradise beckons those with an appreciation for nature and an affinity for the unique. Nestled on a wetland estuary between the Sierra Madre Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, Hotelito is located on one of the most important sea turtle and bird reserves in Mexico, 60 miles South Puerto Vallarta.

Hotelito uses solar energy only for energy needs of the hotel. At night, hundreds of candles light the rooms and restaurant. Luminaries light the pathways that meander throughout the resort. Just a short rowboat ride across the estuary, the Pacific washes ashore the pristine virgin beach, where sea turtles nest from July to January. Looking back east toward Hotelito, foothills leading to a distant mountain range cradle the area, completing the unforgettable panorama.

One of the true treasures of Hotelito is our staff, 90% of which comes from our neighboring village, Cruz de Loreto. Our guests find them caring, charming, and filled with the openhearted hospitality that is so much a part of Mexico. Hotelito is located 60 miles south of Puerto Vallarta, and 3 miles from Cruz de Loreto, along the Costa Alegre in Jalisco Mexico.

Casas de Careyes

This is as private as it gets... and as ravishing too. Casa de Careyes on the Costa Alegre Coast. The first time the Italian entrepreneur Gian Franco Brignone saw this pristine stretch of the Pacific coastline in 1968, he knew he'd found paradise. It is set between Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo, on the Mexican Pacific Coast.

His idea of building a haven for the travelers of the world in this blessed microclimate crystallized with the brilliant collaboration of famous Mexican architects who came up with the distinctive design that is internationally known as the "Careyes Style."

This combination of Mediterranean sensuality, purity of lines, bold use of colors and craftsmanship is the fabulous setting for a blissful vacation on the beach. Whether you're thinking of a romantic getaway, a fun trip with friends and family or even a wedding in a superb setting, there's a perfect casa for you: from a charming one- to three-bedroom Casita de las Flores to a four- to seven-bedroom spectacular Villa.

Rancho Cuixmala

Brimming with the anticipation of seeing for myself what Rancho Cuixmala had to offer to travelers, I set off, with a friend, on a journey along what is irrefutably Mexico’s most spectacular coast, Careyes, north of Manzanillo, Colima, in the state of Jalisco, to take a tour of the ranch and visit “La Casa Azul”, a unique, artfully-decorated place in which to recharge one’s batteries and get a glimpse of what country living is all about.

Rancho Cuixmala is a working ranch, lovingly administered by the owners for many decades, and is home to an aweinspiring number of unique species of trees, flowers, plants and animals. A bird watcher’s haven, the property boasts a magnificent lagoon with an observation tower from which the ranch’s owners and tour guides provide a wealth of information about the local species. The agroecological grounds hold an orchard with papaya and mangoes as the featured products. There are well-mannered horses to ride, jungle safaris, kayaking and mountain bike riding (depending on the season) to partake in and enough fresh air to remind you why you left the city.
